What if?

What if?

What if? by Randall Munroe is one of the goofiest books I’ve read in quite some time. It seriously examines a wide variety of fairly absurd situations from a very serious scientific perspective…

  • What if a steak was descending from space, would it cook?
  • How long would it take to find one other person if you were the only two people on the planet?
  • What would happen if a hole the size of a football field opened at the bottom of the ocean to drain out all the water?

In general it’s all good fun and a good reminder of various physics + mathematical principles. If you’re looking for a little bit of science mixed with some whimsy, this is a good read.
